Senior Technical Leader
EPRI
Dr. Sharp has almost 30 years of experience as a meteorologist, and 20 years of energy sector experience. He build the operational meteorology division at Avangrid Renewables from the ground up, where tasks included reconciling commercial and operational data with meteorological data and providing real time 24/7 trading and operations support from a renewable energy forecasting desk. In his consultancy, and most recently at EPRI, he has positioned himself as a bridge between atmospheric science and the electric utility sector, and is one of a small group of people with the depth of knowledge required to effectively work in and translate between the two. His dissertation explores the meteorology of the Columbia Gorge, home to tens of GW of wind, solar and hydro capacity.
Justin is active in advocacy and policy discussions related to the application of meteorology to the energy industry, passionately bringing together the right people to create renewable energy solutions that have an impact.
